Specialist Training (Experienced Baristas) - $229/person

 

Approximately 4 hours

 

Specialist Training is suitable for people who are already working in a cafe as a barista and who want to learn the tips and tricks of producing a high quality cup of coffee consistently and with efficiency (minimal waste with maximum speed).

 

The program is made up of two 2 hour sessions with a 10 minute break in the middle. The program also requires learners to pass 2 forms of assessment. After the Specialist Training program you will be able to:

 

  • Understand and adjust the grind setting on the grinder to extract the ideal espresso

  • Understand the effect on flavour when dosing and tamping is not correct

  • Produce uncommon coffee beverage type requests in a comfortable and consistent manner (e.g. Dry Cappuccino or Flat white with no foam)

  • Produce large quantities of various types of coffees with speed whilst maintaining a high standard of quality

  • Perform basic level of latte/coffee art in order display the high quality of coffee produced

  • Understand the dynamics of a cafe and the importance of being a multi-skilled and effective front-of-house team member at a cafe

  • Start and hold conversations with customers to build profitable and long term relationships with them

 

Within the Specialist Training Program, each learner will go through 2 assessments. In our experience we have found that assessments have aided the learning process in the following ways:

 

  • Motivates learners to adopt new knowledge and skills

  • Builds confidence for learners who pass the assessment

  • Provides specific feedback for areas of improvement

  • Provides learners with an understanding of the skills and knowledge required to consistently produce high quality espresso coffee
